How do I resolve a resolution adjustment issue on a UEFI-booted Windows Server 2016 virtual machine?

Cause

Virtual machines with UEFI boot support require OVMF firmware. Resolution must be changed through this firmware.

Solution

Restart the virtual machine from within the Windows system. When the UEFI interface appears, press ESC to enter the boot settings, then set the resolution in OVMF Manager.

After installing an operating system on a UEFI-booted virtual machine and restarting, the system automatically enters the UEFI shell. How do I resolve this?
