How do I troubleshoot missing monitoring data on the virtualization platform?

ZSvirt was open-sourced from the ZStack ZSphere commercial project and has since developed independently. Some code, configuration, and documentation still retain historical ZStack/ZSphere names (such as environment variables, configuration items, dependencies, paths, and commands). These names are for compatibility only and do not affect the normal use of ZSvirt.

Solution

  • Try the following methods to troubleshoot the issue:

  • Log in to the host system and run cat /etc/sysconfig/iptables to check whether ports 7069, 9100, and 9103 are open on the host. If any port is not open, try reconnecting the host.

  • Access $HOST_IP:9103 in a browser to view the specific missing monitoring data. For example, search by virtual machine UUID to check its monitoring data. If the virtual machine monitoring data is missing, log in to the host system and run pkill collectd to stop the collectd service, then try reconnecting the host.

  • Check whether the owner of the Management Node configuration file /var/lib/zstack/prometheus/data2 is zstack. If the owner is not zstack, run pkill promethues to stop the Prometheus service. After 30 seconds, the Management Node automatically restarts the Prometheus service.

  • If monitoring data is still missing after completing the steps above, try restarting the host or removing and re-adding it.
